UDP Petition Continues: Legal Teams Argues At The Supreme Court

Today at the Supreme Court, the petition filed by UDP against president Adama Barrow, IEC and Attorney General Proceeded.

Counter Argument, NPP counsels demanded the UPD petition to be struck out off court and UDP counsels also demanded the NPP motion to be struck out.

The lawyer of the defendant, Mr Tambedou  questioned the amendment of the petition at the supreme court by stating that the time given for the petition filing expired, and further added that, the petition was filed on the 14th December and therefore does not comply with the constitution; which states

“that any party or candidate not satisfied with a presidential poll can file a petition within 10 days of the results”

The respondent of the Motion, elaborated that the announcement of the results was on the 5th December which was on Sunday, a non-working day so it was not counted and said If last days are Saturday or on Sunday, then it supposed to be an excluded day.

The sitting was adjourned until Tuesday the 28th Dec 2021.
