The UDP Petitions Against Adama Barrow, IEC And Attorney General Proceeded Today Before The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has ordered president adama barrow to pay D10,000 to UDP as cost for delay of the case. This came following the withdrawal of his first motion. The first motion was seeking dismissal of the case based on constitutional grounds; that a sitting president, under section 96, can’t be sued.
The lawyers for UDP objected to the withdrawal saying it was a delay tactic. Therefore on this ground, the court granted application for withdrawal but equally awarded a cost of D10,000 against president Adama barrow.
The case was adjourned and will now be heard again on Friday at 9:30am for the hearing of the second motion filled by lawyers for president adama barrow, which they also seek to strike out the case based on constitutional grounds; that “the president has constitutional immunity”.
The court has further set aside 28th December to hear the petition brought by UDP challenging the validity of the election results
