Teachers Union commences sit-down strike over allowance and salary increments
The Gambia Teachers Union (GTU) embarked on a sit down strike calling on the government to adhere to their proposed 30% salary increment demands.
A tripartite meeting was held on Saturday in a bid to resolve the standoff between the GTU and the Government over the nine demands submitted to government and the subsequent industrial action.
In a statement issued by the GTU states that the GTU and the government will today 9th January sign the resolutions reached at the Saturday’s meeting.
Later in the afternoon, at 3PM, the GTU will host a Press Conference to update the public on the outcome of the meeting.
