REOPENING OF SCHOOLS IN THE GAMBIA ANNOUNCED
On Tuesday October 6th the minister of basic and secondary school education gave an official announcement about the reopening of schools in the Gambia.
The minister honorable Claudiana A. Cole said, schools will be open in two(2) different phases. Grade 7 to 12 will open on the 14th of October 2020 while from ECD to Grade 6 will open on 28th of October 2020.

She went on further to say that schools will be open to ensure that students recover all what they have lost due to the closure led by the Covid-19 pandemic attack.
However, she made it really clear that schools will reopen but all students and teachers will have to follow the precautionary measures led by the health minister and the WHO (World Health Organization) that all students should put on their face mask together with the teachers, social distancing, and as well as regular hand washing which would help in the fight against coronavirus.
As she speaks on further, the minister made it clear that schools will open and will continue to provide and operate in a safe environment, free of abuse and exploitation of children’s access valuable school-based services such as health, water, sanitation, protection and above all providing satisfactory learning opportunity to all students.
She said with all these arrangements and collaborations from all stakeholders, more especially the students, teachers and parents, “we are cheerful for safe reopening to you all”, said the minister.
