Rafela Gambia launches 500 Youth Volunteerism Project

Rafela Gambia yesterday 31st August 2023 launched its 500 Youth Volunteerism Project in the Gambia at the Never Again Memorial Arch in Banjul presided over by the Mayoress Rohey Malick Lowe, who is also the President of Rafela Africa.

The project is funded by the United Nations office for South-South Cooperation, Islamic Development Bank, Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (Badea), and UNDP.

Rohey Malick Lowe, Mayoress of Banjul and President of Rafela Africa said that the project will not only transform the youth of Banjul but also extent it’s positive impact to the entire Gambia and said it is not just an idea but also a solution to empower the youth.

Isatou Jallow Secka President of Banjul Youth Committee said the project will help unlock the potential of Young People by making them independent.

She further said that it is a day to celebrate women leadership and the role all stakeholders play in order to make the project a success.

Hon.Bakary Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports said that the project is very important for the country as the youth constitute more than 60% of the population according to statistics.

He further highlighted that the Rafela program is in line with the youth and sport strategic plan with only a difference of the Rafela being external while the youth and sport strategic plan being internal.
