President Barrow Swears-In Members Of Commission Of Inquiry

President Barrow Swears-in members of commission of inquiry to look into the conduct of local government councils.

The appointed people are Jainabou Bah Sambu as chairperson, Oremi E Choina as member, Samba faal as member, Sukai Secka Sanyang as member and Alagie Sillah as member.

President Barrow states that the decision is in line with his government’s determination to strengthen the institutions through good governance and to serve the nation better.

“ this is an exercise that most extend beyond central government to include public institutions at the decentralized level.” Barrow said 

He further said that the setting up of this commission of inquiry is the result of complaints sent from four councils about alleged financial and administrative irregularities, guided section 200 of the constitution of the Republic of The Gambia.

“ I dime it necessary to establish the commission of inquiry to investigate the alleged irregularities.” He noted 

Jainabou Bah Sambu, newly elected chairman also stated that this is a great responsibility and they humbly accept with full understanding of the task bestowed upon them. 

She said that they pledge to do their utmost during the period that they will serve to warrant his trust, confidence, support in the execution of their duty.
