President Barrow Hosts National Dialogue Forum

Earlier today 16th February 2024 his excellency President Adama Barrow hosted the National Dialogue at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Center in Bijilo. 

The event was graced by Chief Justice Hassan. B. Jallow, Speaker of the National Assembly Fa Bakary Tombong Jatta, Cabinet Ministers, Opposition Political Party leaders among others. 

This event is marked as a Historic National Event that was initiated by the President ahead of the 59th Independence Day celebrations of the Gambia.

His excellency President Adama Barrow welcomed everyone and expressed how even though he is participating in National Dialogue Forum as the sitting President, he is also present there as a Citizen and a Gambian stakeholder like everyone else.

He further expressed how they opt to be proud of themselves as history is being made in the Gambia along with all the 19 Political leaders through their participation in this unprecedented event.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Justice Hassan. B. Jallow extended his congratulations to the President Adama Barrow for initiating the first National Dialogue in the Gambia with the theme “Our Collective responsibility in preserving the Nation, safeguarding the state and securing our resources”.

He further said, they must not give up on their goal of putting in place a new constitutional framework that promises better governance for people of the Gambia.

Fa Bakary Tombong Jatta, speaker of the National Assembly expressed his gratitude to President Barrow for not only spearheading this initiative but for also extending an invitation for him to participate in this crucial national engagement forum.

He noted that,the initiative undertaken by the Government under the leadership of President Adama Barrow to unite Opposition Parties for the common good of the country is truly unprecedented.

President Adama Barrow has established this National Dialogue for the first time in the history of The Gambia with a theme that aims to strengthen citizens’ participation in nation-building and commendations for legislation, policy and civic education.
