H.E President Adama Barrow on Tuesday at the McCarty Square in Banjul officially commissioned over 30 new buses meant to ease urban transportation.

President Barrow said that the initiative  marks another mile stone in the history of vehicular transport in The Gambia as he launches  the urban transport initiative of over 30 new buses and said this initiative cannot come at a better time  than this, considering the recent significant improvements on the road infrastructural network and the growing traffic congestion in the greater Banjul area despite the government’s achievement in this sector and found in necessary to complement the road infrastructure  development and the proper transportation operator.

He further said that the initiative is in line with The Gambia’s National Development Plan (NDP), which recognizes the important role public transport services contribute towards the efficient functioning of the national economy and said it is consequently with great pleasure for the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure and the Gambia Transport Services Company to welcome this initiative.
