November 11 nationwide protest planned annulled
The November 11 peaceful protest initially planned by the Coalition of Progressive Gambians has been canceled prior to numerous constructive dialogues between the Gambia government and the Coalition of Progressive Gambians with assurances to meeting their demands.
This development was unfolded in a press conference organized by the Supreme Islamic Council as a major stakeholder in the maintenance of national peace and stability marking the fifth roundtable in engaging both the Coalition Progressive Gambians and the Gambia government through effective dialogue since October.
Held on Wednesday, at the Supreme Islamic Council in Kanifing, both parties agreed to postpone the already planned protest while further engaging the Gambia government through its relevant authorities to fulfilling their demands which include corruption, unemployment and cost of living among others.

In a joint press statement on the intended November 11 peaceful demonstration, it was stated through consensus that the Gambia government has assured that is open and willing to dialogue with the Coalition of Progressive Gambians and that the Supreme Islamic Council and Peace Network will continue to mediate between the Coalition Progressive Gambians and the Gambia government.
The meeting was represented by Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Information and the Sate Intelligence Services and office of the Inspector General of Police.
The agreement was signed by the representatives of the Ministry of Information, office of the IGP, Ministry of Interior, the State Intelligence Service (SIS), the Coalition of Progressive Gambians, which was mediated and signed by the President of the Supreme Islamic Council and the Peace Network.
