NGO Forum Calls Need For Young Africans In Taking Up Human Rights Issues
Naji Moulay Lahsen, the Executive Director of the Independent Commission for Human Rights in North Africa, (CIDH Africa) recently emphasized the need for the young to be interested in the issues of human rights in Africa and take up the leadership for the future.
He made this call stating that young Africans and women observedas being tolerant and open to everyone in any situation.
He noted that the young people and women are open and tolerant, he said they have been working years and have now neared to the point of retirements as senor members.
Executive Director Lahsen quickly spoke with the VOD in an interview in the ongoing 75th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Bijilo, following the just concluded NGO forum.
“This is the moment for the young people, we need to bring on the young people, because they believe in peace and tolerance. We have been working on peace issues for years, and the young are open to everyone.
We need these characters and women have also shown that they are partners to men and they can effectively participate to bringing issues and function in any developmental approaches,” he observed.

“We believe in the young and the women to solve these conflicts, because Africa is divided. There has been countless crisis such as religious, humanitarian, ethnic crises and diversity crisis. So, we need these people, especially women and the young to solve these situations,” he said.
He stated that without peace, no progress or development will be achieved, as peace can bring all the countries together. “We have seen the Russia-Ukraine war, it has negative effects in Africa,” he noted. However, he added that the NGO Forum has made a lot of achievements and records in favor of Africans.
He called the need to hear the voices of the voiceless people, which he said that they should not let behind, and that they should work with them to promote and protect human rights all over the world. We need this urgent collaboration between NGOs and civil societies with other stakeholders to achieve these elements.
