New Judicial Secretary  “Conteh” Sworn-In

Following the recommendations of the Judicial Service Commission President Adama Barrow acting on the powers invested in him under section 143 of the 1997 constitution has appointed Mr. Abdou Conteh as Judicial Secretary. 

Mr. Abdou Conteh took oath in office on Thursday 8th July 2023 at the statehouse in Banjul following his appointment by President Adama Barrow as Judicial Secretary.

The President gives gave a speech in which he first congratulates Mr. Abdou Conteh for taking the position of judicial secretary.

President Barrow mentions, emphasized how significant the position of Judicial Secretary is significant in the judiciary’s efforts in the development of the Gambia’s Justice System and in the proper administration of justice.

President Barrow quotes, commends Mr.Conteh’s vast Knowledge, Experience and Dedication towards the Judiciary is commended,  and said it is impressive that he has risen through ranks from a junior position to a very senior position.

He says, “Mr. Conteh’s role as a judicial secretary is paramount to the success of the judiciary and must be taken with utmost diligence and concern”, the President said.

During the event, Chief Justice of the Gambia Hassan B Jallow says, disclosed that they are focusing on the execution of the five years strategic plan which was launched by the President Adama Barrow 2 (two) years ago, and that the plan is meant to propel the judiciary into ensuring that it delivers quality justice in an expeditious manner.

He further says, stated the judicial Secretary has an important role to play in the implementation of that pan.

Mr. Abdou Conteh the newly sworn judicial secretary states, reaffirms that he will commit to working diligently with the Judges, Magistrates, Legal Professionals and Staff of the judiciary to ensure the efficient administration of justice.

He quoted “I recognize the weight of the responsibilities that accompany accompanies this esteem position as a judicial secretary, I plead to uphold the principle of Impartiality, Fairness and Integrity which are the corner stone of our Judicial System”.

Mr. Abdou Conteh’s appointment took effect on April 3rd 2023. He replaces Hon Justice Asiatou Jallow Sey, who is now a high court Judge.
