 National Security Office Receives Donations from ECOWAS 

The National Security Office yesterday held a handing over ceremony at the State House to receive office Equipment from joint partners which is provided by the ECOWAS peace and Security Architecture and the Federal Republic of Germany GIZ (German Development Corporations).

The items donated to the national security office were TV set to facilitate video conferencing, a projector set, laptop and Desktop computer, multi-purpose photocopier, UPS.

Additionally a Digital camera in support of the National Security that is mandated by the Gambia Government to lead the ongoing Security Sector Reform (SSR) and Coordinate the eight (8) Security institutions in the country.

During the ceremony Klaus Botzet Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, stated the importance of good office equipment in which he said it contributes to the productivity and functionality of any organization.

The Director of Joint Assessment Team ONS lamin Jatta outlined that ECOWAS and the Federal Republic of Germany have been important and reliable to the Government of the Gambia since the introduction of the SSR process and the relationship remains relevant and will continue to grow from strength to strength.

He added that the office of the National Security have continued to receive support from ECOWAS and that the previous interventions of programmatic and logistics support provided were: Assistance in the conduct of security sector reform (SSR) assessment, technical support for the development of National Security Policy, National Security strategy and security sector reform strategy, capacity building national for national assembly select community of defense and security, capacity building for the media and among others.

ECOWAS Representative Dr. Abdourahman Jeng said that to empower the office of the national security, the ECOWAS Commission collected huge capacity building including a tour to Ghana for the national security office request and its objective was to assist to build the capacity for the first ever office SSR (security sector reform).

Adding that he is optimistic that the facilities will go a long way in facilitating their work and he encourage the management to take good care of the working tools for it to last long.
