Magistrate Sallah Grants Bail at 800,000 To Mam Tut Wadda

Earlier today at the Magistrate court in Kanifing, Magistrate Sallah Mbaye granted bail to Mam Tut Wadda at the sum of Eight Hundred Thousand Dalasis (800,000) or a land document valued D800,000 with sureties of 2 Gambian IDs to be deposited at the Registrar of the Court.


Magistrate Sallah Mbaye highlighted that she granted bail to the accused considering the fact that she is pregnant and the Mile 2 is not a conducive environment for the child that is considered Innocent so the bail is in the best interest of the unborn child. She further said that she had heard from both the accused and the prosecution, and having in mind that the accused is a habitual offender that had been convicted of the same crime with other pending cases at both the Kanifing and Brikama magistrate of the same nature.


One of the bail conditions of the accused is that she is to report every Monday to the Bakoteh Police station and she is not allowed to travel out of the country without the knowledge of the court and that if she fails to report to the Bakoteh Police station without any valid reasons her bail would be revoked and she would be rearrested.


The accused is facing charges of obtaining money by false pretense contrary to Section 288 of the Criminal Code CAP 10:01 Volume 3 Laws of The Gambia 2009.
The case has been adjourned to 13th March 2024, for the cross-examination of PW2 by the accused.
