Kenyan Doctors calls off strike Amid Court order

Public Hospital Doctors in Kenya have call off their nationwide strike that started two months ago this came after a court in Kenya on Tuesday gave the government and doctors 72 hours to come in agreement for doctor to return to work, which if they fail to do so leads for the matter to be resolute by the court of law.

The secretary General of the union Davji Atellah said doctors have decided to trust the government in addressing the issues that cause the strike that resolve around inadequate payment and poor working Condition.

While responding to this the Kenyan Minister of health Susan Nakhumicha said doctors had shown to be better negotiators than the Kenyan government side, she further said that they had put up fairly a fight.

“The end of the strike comes as a relief to millions of Kenyans seeking health services from public hospitals that had been crippled by the strike, some hospitals had decided to hire temporary doctors for emergency services as Kenya is currently dealing with the devastating effects of flooding that has affected 235,000 people since mid-March when the rainy season started”. African News

It could be recalled that public hospitals held a 100-day strike in 2017 demanding for better wages and restoration of run-down public health facilities in Kenya
