“Janjanbureh Will Receive Attention of Gambia Tourism Board” says President Barrow

President Adama Barrow said the island of Janjanbureh will continue to receive the attention of The Gambia Tourism Board so that all the interesting heritage sites and cultural products will be fully upgraded and valorized to generate jobs through heritage tourism, foster national unity, to project a positive image of the people.

He further said that through the support from UNESCO, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture has developed regulations for The National Endowment for Arts and Culture. The instrument will attract funding through grants for artistic and cultural projects.

He also highlighted how the festival had brought together Gambians both home and in the Diaspora along with friends of the Gambia, historians and tourist in order to participate in the healing, reconnection and reconciliation process through the shared history and heritage.

He shared how pleased he was with the Organizers for not only involving Artists in The Gambia but also those in the sub-region and beyond in the activities for peace and reconciliation.
