Interior Minister Visits The Fire Incident In Serekunda
The Interior Minister, Siyaka Sonko recently paid a visit to the Serrekunda Market following Tuesday’s fire outbreak at the SK market which started a few minutes after 7:30 pm which engulfed an entire cosmetic shop owned by one Haddim, a Senegalese national engaged in selling fragrances, perfumes, and scents.
The courtesy-call was meant to sympathize with the victims and see first-hand information of the damage that has been caused by the outbreak.

In his visit, Minister Sonko said that the government will set up an investigation to look into what had happened in order to establish facts around the cause of the fire and how to avoid future recurrence.
He said that the assessment will further enable the government to establish the level of damage caused and assured that the government will also give all the support within its capacity to the victims of the incident.
AlieuCeesay,an eyewitness narrated that their efforts to help put off the fire was undermined by the unavailability of water which led to the massive damage caused and the late arrival of the Fire service to the place and that he believes that the un-consistent of the electricity also contributed to the cause of the fire.
