GTHI Set To Kick Start Foods & Beverage Expo

The Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute (GTHI) is set to hold  its maiden food and beverage exposition from 26th to 28th May at the GTHI premises.

The expo seeks to promote healthy food consumption and boost local foods to enhance socio-economic growth.

At a recent press conference held ahead of the event, Peter Mendy, head of Department for Research and Consultancy at the institution, said the event is aimed at promoting Gambian local produce and will provide important exposure for food and businesses.

He further said that they have been having other trade fairs, but this one is going to be special and it is going to import food businesses to come and showcase their products to potential buyers.

Momodou Lamin Singhateh, Director General of GTHI Said that the expo came with a theme which is “Taste of The Gambia a green culinary journey through our local flavors.”

He also mentioned that this is the first expo and there are plans to have it as an annual event and it goes along with a genuine chief competition meaning that aside from the conference and the expo there are different catering institutions that are also looking up to the GTHI as an institution that is providing training in various disciplines 

Maimuna Dibba, research assistant at GTHI, echoed similar remarks, while calling for more avenues to showcase and promote Gambian foods to the outside world.
