GAMBIA: REMAINS OF ALLEGED 11 NOVEMBER COUP PLOTTERS EXHUMED
The remains of alleged November 11 coup plotters were on Tuesday 17th April 2019 exhumed at Yundum Barracks. This development came after several witnesses appeared before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission TRRC to testify on the summary killing and mass burial of captured soldiers in November 1994 by the AFPRC council members. The captured soldiers that were extra judicially killed include Cadet Amadou Sillah, Lt Bassirou Barrow, Sgt Bassirou Camara, Sgt Fafa Nyang, Buba Jammeh, Lt Abdoulie Dot Faal, Lt Gibril Saye and others.
The exercise lasted for two weeks before they were finally excavated from the two graves, that bones, skulls and clothes were found and labeled. The victims’ families were also present during this exercise to witness the exhumation and see the remains of their love ones. They can be seen weeping and covered with sorrow. The remains were labeled and packed in boxes for further investigation and identification by experts.
