Gambia Police Force Updates the Public On The recent death of a 62-year-old woman

The Gambia Police Force Gambia on Thursday held a press briefing at the Kairaba Police Station regarding the arrest of two suspects over the death of a 62-year-old woman, who was found dead at her residence in Bakau on the 4th September 2022.

During the media briefing the recently appointed PRO,Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police Binta Njie Jatta, has said that the two suspects that were alleged to be involved in the crime have both been arrested and currently helping the police in their investigations.

PRO njie jatta says that the Gambia police force shall always be committed to protect the lives and properties of the citizens and residents.

She further went on to say that the Gambia Police Force has very limited resources to combat the rising crime rate in the country.

She also made emphasizes on the efforts of the police in trying to curb crime in the country, saying: “We are not happy. We don’t sleep. We don’t go to bed. We are on the streets all the time, but we are not superhumans, we cannot do it alone.” She said.

Meanwhile, she said the Gambia Police Force is eager and doing everything in its power to ensure the country is one of the safest, not only within the subregion but globally as well.

Deputy regional crime officer Mr Gomez, who is currently leading the investigation of this case said that he arrived at the scene with his men after the body was already taken to the hospital where the disease was pronounced  dead. meanwhile he said that they were able to recover few items like mobile phones and car keys from the suspects.

He thanked  the people living in the area for their help during the investigations and said that progress has been made but however they are not mandated to disclose certain information at this stage of the investigations and that very soon the case will be at court.
