Fulbeh Africa Is Established To Bond fulas in The World-Says President sowe
As Fulbeh Africa Association set to observe its 10th anniversary through conference and cultural performances in spreading educative messages, Alieu Sowe, President of the association said the formation of the association in 2012 and registered at the Attorney General’s Chambers, was purposely with objectives to strengthen and uniteFulas in the nation, Africa and by extension to the globe.
Sowemade these remarks recently at Q-City building, during a press conference staged ahead of the 10th festival slated from the 25th– 26th December under the theme “building sustainable communities through cultural heritage.”
He noted that the association with 150 members also endeavors to teach the Fula language with written books to avoid the language perishes.“As members, we said we have to be writing Pularr, because if you want to speak Pularr, you have to write the Pularr language,” he said.
As Fulas are known for their various dialects with different heritage, especially in the Gambia and Senegal that didn’t interact or intermarryyears ago, he states that Fulbeh Africa with the love for its culture and tradition, came together with the need to bridging that gap though culture.
He added that for the past ten years, the association was able to settle disputes though peace building for coexistence, also showcased the need to cement the gap betweenFulas and other tribes to cement and promote peaceful coexistence among the tribes.
“We encouraged other tribes and also invited them to partner aimed to promote and showcase cultural diversity,” he noted, whilst they continue building capacities for young Fulas through educational activities and conferences.
Ahead of thefestival, Ali Bah, Fulbeh Africa head of culture and programs stated that the festive would have commenced through discussions on culture and tradition with other socio-economic issues affecting Fulas and other residence in West Africa.
He noted that the conference would be taken through talks on the significance of languages in culture maintenance, as he confirmed culture and tradition to purely depend on language.
He stated that if a language is not spoken, then there comes the definite deaths of language. The conference would also highlight the harmful cultural practices such as early child marriage.
He advanced the conference to also disclose the significance of child education, particularly girl child education. Adding that women education contributes to a progressive society.
Other areas of discussionswould include climate change, citizenry documentation sensitization through immigration involvement.
However, Guinean star,Alphadio Diarra, Senegalese legendary, Baba Maal and Gambian star, Bobo Dimo among others were expected to perform in the festival through sensitization messages.
