Former Councilor Momodou Lamin Badjie apologizes to Mayor Bensouda’s mother
Former Councilor Momodou Lamin Badjie apologies to Mayor Bensouda’s mother concerning the allegations he made during the last press conference held on 7th March 2023, where he mentioned that the mayor, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, uses the Council as a business venture for his family.
He also allegedly said that Talib’s mother, Mrs. Amie Bensouda, has shares in AGIB Bank, and he (Talib) used those shares as collateral to secure a loan to finance the Mbalit project.
Mrs. Bensouda’s lawyers took umbrage at these utterances and the negative impact they alleged it will have on her positive reputation built over the years, considering that she represents clients nationally and internationally, who depend on her exceptional integrity and public standing.
According to Momodou lamin Badjie, Mrs Amie Bensouda demanded for a written apology and a public apology at a press conference; and failure to do so within 10days, a sum of GMD100 Million (One Hundred Million Gambian Dalasis),will be demanded.
Mr Yankuba Colley, Former Mayor of KMC said it is somehow worrisome but for them the time the statement was given was not intentional to defame her and that they equally feel that it is wrong, a sincere apology to her.
Momodou Lamin Badjie, former councilor of Ebo Town/Jeshwang ward reiterated that they held a meeting and agreed that they will do a public apology to apologize to Amie Bensouda which they were doing.
He went further to say “I am hereby apologizing on my behalf and on behalf of the organization for statements that we made and that you (Amie) felt offended and sees it as defamatory” It was not intentional.
