Foni Bintang Karanai Chief Welcomes SIC, Imams To A Peaceful Dialogue With People Of Fonis

Momodou LaminJobarteh, the Chief for Foni Bintang Karanai has said that he has welcomed the Supreme Islamic Council and the Imams to come and have a positive dialogue with the elders of Foni and their families in maintaining peace and coexistence amongst them.

However, he quickly noted that the councils of elders of Foni, his colleague chiefs shouldcurrently take up the responsibilities to dialogue amongst themselves with their families to maintain peace in the districts.

Chief Jobarteh was speaking on Wednesday at the Joint meeting by FoniJarrol, Bondali, Kansala, Bintang and Berefet constituencies held at Sibanor in the West Coast Region as President Adama Barrow currently embarks on meet with the people tour with the theme “together we can accelerate socio-economic growth and maintain peace and stability.”

He noted that Foni was not known for rejecting a legitimacy of a president, but what he came to realize with surprise that some of the people in the Foni Districts find it difficult to accept Barrow’s leadership. 

However, he accepted that there has been vast developments for the past six years of Barrow’s governance such as in the areas of road constructions and electricity which had never happened since the first republic before.

“We want the Imams and the Supreme Islamic Council to come to our chiefs to dialogue with the elders of our communities to maintain peace among them,” he appealed.
