Farmer’s Union Pays Courtesy Visit To NFSPMC

The farmer’s union accompanied by their President and executive members on Friday 5th April 2024 paid a courtesy visit to the National Food Security processing marketing Corporation (NFSPMC) headquarters in Banjul Saaro.

The President of the farmer’s union, Babou Bah, highlighted how the farmers of the Gambia are proud of the support that the corporation has towards them over the years. As he further thanked the government for spending the huge sum of D1.4 Billion on purchasing nuts alone this season which is marked as an historic move.

“I want to remind the gathering that President Adama Barrow had actually fulfilled his promise of empowering Gambian farmers” he said.

The Vice President of the Union, Alagie Ceesay, also commended the President, Adama  Barrow along with his Government for appointing Muhammed Njie as the Managing Director of GGC.

He also expressed how MD Njie has been a blessing to the Gambian Farmers, as he has been an examplary and extraordinary leader who listens to all with an open door policy as he further encourages him to continue in that vein.

The Union’s Secretary General, Modou Njie urged everyone to continue with the collaboration and hard work in order to build a country fit for purpose. He further highlighted the key role that the President Adama Barrow played in making sure that the price of fertilizers were affordable and accessible which in turn aided in this season’s  bumper harvest.

The Deputy Managing Director of the Corporation, Lamin Sanyang, said without farmers the National Food Security Processing marketing Corporation  (NFSPMC) will never progress and due to these reasons they would want to assure everyone that they would continue to give the best of services hence he is encouraging the collaboration to continue as only through collaboration they would be able to build a strong unit.

 He further said as a management they are dedicated to supporting the agenda of the President in making life better for all farmers.

The Managing Director of GGC, Muhammed Njie started his statement by thanking the Gambian farmers, his staff and all those present in the gathering for their continuous support, as he urged Gambians to rally behind the President Adama Barrow.

He expressed that President Barrow is fully committed in making farmers happy as he had last year given farmers the smart farming initiative which was marked as an historic move.

Managing Director Njie assured farmers that the corporation is dedicated to making it right for everyone as it would continue to do its best to make sure that the President’s vision is amplified.

The farmers union’s visit was meant to officially congratulate the GCC for successfully completing another groundnut trade season.
