Fantanka Organization’s five-day capacity building training program to end Wednesday
The FantankaOrganization’s five days capacity building training program for 20 young Gambians on comprehensive sexual education shall wrap up on Wednesday 21st September at the Zion’s Restaurant around Sukuta-Nema, on the theme “sexual education.”
The training which started last Thursday, MariamaJobateh, the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Fantanka Organization earlier explained that the Organization promotes good sexual and reproductive health, and address sexual and gender based violence as well pointing out that everyday women/girls are subjects of violations.
She further informed that theOrganization was formed to address societal challenges that promotes sexual and gender base violence and that the organization was with the objectives to equip trainees with the knowledge and values on comprehensive sexual education which will enable them to be able to educate others in The Gambia.
However, she inspires people to attempt tocomprehend more about sexual education, and said that it’s not to make people sexually active but rather helps people to make good choices when it comes to related issues, instead of just acting anyhow.
“Parents should learn more about sexual education in order to be able to teach their children which will guide them in making certain decisions in the future, many people made certain mistakes in life because they had little or no knowledge on some of these issues which is very important”, she concluded.
Also speaking earlier, Martha Elizabeth Gomez, a trainee; said that the training was very important that sex is something that people feel so uncomfortable talking about, which in some way has a great impact to the growing number of sexual and reproductive health issues going on in The Gambia.
She noted that such trainings are very important, as it helps people to know more about sex and sexuality and also how to protect themselves and to certify some myths around sex.
