EFSTH Organizes Breakfast With Donors
The Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital On Saturday 6th May 2023, held a Donors Breakfast for their upcoming “First Banjul International Surgical Scientific Conference” and a surgical outreach in Banjul.
During the event Dr Cherno .S. Jallow, the fundraising chairman highlighted that the surgeons that are coming would be well trained and would join them to operate Gambians for free within that time.
He went further to say that getting D4 million which is the amount of money they need would be hard but suggested that if they have more will be better as this activity would be a recurrent activity.
Dr Lamin Jaiteh, Scientific Committee leader also mentioned that this would be the first time In the Gambia they are hosting a scientific conference that will bring together local experts and international experts to come and discuss relevant issues in the medical domain.
He outlined that they had attended several scientific conferences outside the country and has seen how that has contributed to the medical sector and feels Gambia should not be left behind.
Dr Jaiteh emphasised that this first time event would lead to other conferences.“Inherently when starting something, there are challenges and one of those challenges are the reason why we are gathered here. We are asking the Gambian population to help support the medical sector”said Dr Jaiteh.
He concluded by saying that this scientific conference would go a long way in providing inspiration, not just for those participating, but for the younger ones who are thinking of entering the medical field.
