DNPCS Trains Population Task Forces
The director national population commission secretariat in partnership with UNFPA on Thursday 1st September organized a two days capacity training for over 80 members of the Population Task Forces, including Governors across all regions.
Deputy mayor of KMC, binta janneh commended the national population commission secretariat for this initiative to train them, especially at this time when population and development is taking prominence in national development.
In her opening statement she states that Population Task Forces are a very important structure in smooth implementation of population programmes in The Gambia more so the Government of The Gambia/UNFPA funded country programmes and that Part of their roles includes to support, advocate,coordinate,facilitate and monitor population activities within their respective local government.

Deputy Mayor Janneh, however stated that she wish to challenge herself,her fellow heads of regions to make the best of the training for they owe a duty to their respective regions and to execute this duty lies on how well they understand the issues of population and development.
UNFPA The Gambia representative, Lamin Camara said that they are currently implementing 8 country programs which has two outcomes which is sexual and reproduction and said that these programs can not be implemented without the involvement of the population task forces in the various regions as they are supporting there implementations in ensuring that activities planed for the regions are implemented very well.
