BMCH Convenes Maiden Performance Review Convergence

The Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital (BMCH) on Saturday staged its maiden performance review convergencemarking the first time since the inception of the hospital. The event was to review BMCs performance for the year ending 2022.

The convergence was held at the Sir Dawda   Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Bijilo with the aim to accelerate their successes, evaluate their goals, identify deficiencies and challenges to accelerate and reposition to attain organizational goals.

In her welcoming remarks, Senior Nurse Officer at the BMC, Mrs. Marie Gomez revealed that the event was aimed to provide adequate feedback to all their stakeholders and the nation on their facilities’ performance.

BMCH Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mamadi Cham noted that the event marked a significant milestone in the history of the Hospital as it marked the first time they conduct a performance review with aim to asses on their performance at the hospital, the achievements registered, the challenges encountered and how best they could reposition themselves for better service delivery to the people who come to them.

He noted that the event would provide participants with information with certain statistics in the presence of the highest decision-making body. He noted that it took a lot of energy and time to arrive at this level, dated back in May 2022, when he arrived at the Bundung Hospital, that the culture of records was implanted. He revealed that they have seen a lot of patienceimprovement.

Dr. Mustapha Bittaye, Director of Health Services and board member for BMCHcommended the accountability of the Hospital for the good work they are rendering to the nation. He urged participants to frankly take full participation of the discussions during the course of the review.

Momodou Lamin Jaiteh, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health stated that the occasion was a significant milestone for the first time that staff at the BMCH taking the courage and knowing the significance of performance review to call on such a gathering to self-appraise and self-asses.

“We want to see the remaining institutions of the Ministry of Health also setting themselves, highlight and target as to when they will witness a similar activity in their own areas so that we can, as a whole to asses theirs” he urged.
